I can't believe I've never heard of this project - it has been going on for a decade. I missed the exhibitions which have been in Germany, China, NYC over the past decade. Not very much information on the website (argh), but there is a book. If you don't know already about it, you really ought to check out these globes. Beautiful, amazing, smart, subversive, brilliant. I discovered worldprocessor.com by doing a Google Image search on "depiction visualization gross domestic product whole entire universe". Only being able to see images of this project is frustrating - wish I could see the real ones. What an utterly brilliant idea - everyday globes as polemical canvases.
Worldprocessor is an ongoing project that started in 1988. Globes reflect data available and valid at the time of their origin. Currently there are over 300 different globes.
