Gartner's Top 10 Disruptive Technologies for 2008-2012

Gartner's Top 10 Disruptive Technologies for the next 4 years. From my pal Chris Tacy over IM, "Don't they mean 2002-2008?" In bold, areas that I have direct and indirect involvement with in my work life in the data-intensive world of electronic finance, and would concur that they are very today. But what's #10 about? And I don't understand at all what they are talking about for #5. Are they saying "meaning" is a disruptive technology?

  3. Social networks and social software
  4. Cloud computing and cloud/Web platforms
  5. Web mashups
  6. User Interface
  7. Ubiquitous computing
  8. Contextual computing
  9. Augmented reality
  10. Semantics

Any experience I've had with "semantics" involves highly categorized content and information. "Tagging" systems and services like del.icio.us and the newly introduced twine.com are examples of "the semantic web." -- Twine more-so...
